Easter weekend festivities

A three year old's interpretation of Easter:
Saturday night, I was talking to my kids about Easter and why Sunday was so special.
I asked Josh "Why do we celebrate Easter"
Josh: "To get candy"
Me: "That is the fun part we do on Saturday, but tomorrow is Sunday and we celebrate Jesus. Do you know what happens tomorrow?"
Josh: "That is when Jesus brings us candy" (Looks like he still has a long way to go, but he's 3, right?)
I then did the fun cookie activity with my kids that night as a way to teach the Easter story. When we put the cookies in the oven for overnight, I asked Josh what he thinks will happen to the cookies in the morning. He said that "Jesus will take the cookies." We all laughed at that one. They thought it was really cool that the cookies were hollow the next morning when they took a bite.

Our Easter Bunny comes on Saturday morning and the kids had a great time, especially Daniel, who found a love for Jelly Beans! He seriously was a candy machine and figured out how to open the eggs, dump the candy, and go to town.

So proud of himself and his findings!

The annual Easter egg hunt at my sister-in-law's house the Saturday before Easter . Lots of eggs to hide and lots of cousins to find then! My kids look forward to this every year.

Joshua found one of 3 yellow ducks hidden in hard places. The finders of the duck get a big chocolate bunny. He was pretty proud of himself. We were all a little shocked Josh found it.

Great Easter story activity...

My mom emailed me the cutest idea to do with my kids on Easter weekend. It is a cookie recipe you make together the night before Easter Sunday. As you add each ingredient, you read a verse of scripture that goes along with what you are doing. It is all about the Easter story and is a great way for younger kids to understand in a fun way. I'm excited to give it a try!
Here is the link www.dltk-bible.com/recipes/easter_story_cookies.htm

Let me know if anyone tries it. I'd like to hear if anyone has a good experience with it.
Happy Easter everyone! I'm sure I'll have pictures to post next week of the Easter festivities. Fun, fun!!

My mom sent this to me and I loved it so much I thought I would share...

LOVE IN THE HOME

If I live in a house of spotless beauty with everything in it's place,
but have not love, I am a housekeeper - not a homemaker.
If I have time for waxing, polishing, and decorative achievements,
but have not love, my children learn cleanliness - not godliness.
Love leaves the dust in search of a child's laugh.
Love smiles at the tiny fingerprints on the newly cleaned window.
Love wipes away the tears before it wipes up the spilled milk.
Love picks up the child before it picks up the toys.
Love is present through the trials.
Love reprimands, reproves, and is responsive.
Love crawls with the baby, walks with the toddler, runs with the child,
then stands aside to let the youth walk into adulthood.
Love is the key that opens salvation's message to a child's heart.
Before I became a mother I took glory in my house of perfection.
Now I glory in God's perfection of my child.
As a mother, there is much I must teach my child, but the
greatest of all is love.
